The best chai latte in Edinburgh! Never tasted anything better. Super friendly staff and great value for lunches. My favourite place to go in between lectures xx

A lovely and charming café located right next to the university buildings. They serve not only great drinks but also delicious and surprisingly affordable Italian food. The soups are hearty and flavorful, and the cannoli are absolutely fantastic.

I came here with my Mum while visiting Edinburgh for the first time. It was a very busy day as it was the University open day ( which we had attended ) and we were quite exhausted! I am also autistic with high anxiety about big crowds and people-ing, and was sort of broken by the time we found Salut. I am also quite restricted in my food, but the wonderful owner had shown me the "smooth" soups, and even gave me a small jug to try, despite being incredibly busy and the end of the day. My mum is normal so she got a vegetable soup and a tea - which she enjoyed very much. I had the lentil soup with a latte, both of which were scrumptious!! The bread was also very yum. Honestly the whole experience had instantly calmed me after a long anxiety riddled day and has made me choose Edinburgh as my first University choice. I did a small drawing of the kind owner who reassured me in the whole soup ordeal, and they allowed me to sit to finish even when they were closing. I gave the drawing as a thank you. Thank you Salut for being so understanding and welcoming.

First time visit on a Sat afternoon. First thing I noticed was the HUGE selection of bottled drinks & beer selection. Enjoyed a generous portion of Italian soup & plentiful sliced bread, a fresh peach & apricot iced tea & a big cappuccino. Soup & bread was around £8 & layered with flavours & textures. Cappuccino approx £4 with a robust taste. Space outside & all the way to the back inside, little window nook. Decorative crockery added to a chilled vibe. Gent was very friendly and chatted despite listening to a football match (and displaying his enthusiasm for his team) on a radio Selection of cakes/cannolis. Would be a go to if in the area later.

Super delicious pastry. Flaky and tasty. 100% recommend. Generous serving sizes with a warm mini baguette on the side.

Experiencing a moment of sheer joy here with a pesto chicken baguette and an AMAZING mug of italian chicken soup, while taking in spring sunshine through the window! Love this place :)
